Hong Kong’s Housing Department has dispelled rumours that survivors of the deadly Tai Po blaze are staying in interim housing with unfinished floors, after a social media user claimed residents were moving into flats in poor condition.
A department spokesman said on Wednesday that no residents from the Wang Fuk Court fire were staying in interim housing at the moment.
Interim housing refers to accommodation mainly for people affected by natural disasters or government clearance operations.

Following the blaze last week, more than 2,600 of the estate’s estimated 4,000 residents have been relocated to youth hostels, hotels or transitional housing flats, which differ from interim homes.
In a Facebook post, a user claimed multiple residents from Wang Fuk Court were staying in interim housing with incomplete flooring.
