Assets of new Hong Kong ministers revealed nearly 2 months after starting roles

The asset declarations of Hong Kong’s newest ministers have emerged nearly two months after the pair assumed their roles, despite an official guideline stipulating that disclosures must be made within 14 days.

Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk-pui disclosed that she owned a flat for leasing purposes, while Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan reported having a home and a parking space for her own use.

The documents detailing their investments, property ownership and membership in different groups were available on a government website on Tuesday. The Post could not immediately verify when the documents were published.

The pair’s signatures are dated December 5, 2024, the day of their appointments.

Law succeeded Kevin Yeung Yun-hung, while Chan replaced Lam Sai-hung.

According to a government report reviewing accountability, principal officials are required to declare their investments and interests within 14 days of assuming office.

Tourism minister Law’s declaration noted that her residential property in Ap Lei Chau was used for leasing purposes.
