Her parents, who lovingly refer to her as Yaoyao, began sharing videos of her daily activities on Douyin in 2021. She skyrocketed to fame the following year after a video went viral, capturing a moment when the little girl cried at midnight, and her mother devoted considerable effort to soothe her back to sleep.
Memes highlighting her chubby cheeks and delightful expressions have gained immense popularity on social media.
Yaoyao’s family lives in a village in Tongren in southwestern Guizhou province. Her Douyin account has garnered a staggering 580 million likes across her 460 videos to date.

In early February, a culinary programme produced by state broadcaster CCTV brought Yaoyao back into the spotlight as she introduced two popular Guizhou snacks – zhe er gen (a pungent, peppery plant) and zhu er pa (a type of small steamed bun).
