Taiwanese actress Barbie ‘Big S’ Hsu dies from pneumonia

Taiwanese host and actress Hsu Shiyuan – better known as Barbie Hsu or “Big S” – has died at the age of 48 because of flu-triggered pneumonia, sending shock waves across the internet.

Hsu gained popularity in Hong Kong for her starring role in the 2001 TV drama Meteor Garden.

Confirming Hsu’s sudden death on Monday, her family said in a statement that the actress was travelling in Japan when she caught the flu, which triggered pneumonia.
