The MTR Corporation said on Saturday it discovered the day before that some of the hoods from the train’s reading lamps had been removed and protective plastic strips on its emergency buttons had been damaged.

The exhibition featuring the KTT, which ran for decades on a century-old line between Hong Kong and Guangzhou before being replaced by the high-speed rail, opened to the public at the Hung Hom MTR station on Thursday.

“The MTR Corporation expresses its disappointment towards this behaviour,” the company said. “The display of the ‘Station Rail Voyage’ rail exhibition is done using a relatively open display arrangement, which allows visitors to reminisce about the past and present of the railway through an immersive experience.

“The company urges all visitors to take care of the trains and the exhibits, as well as refrain from breaking the law.”

The MTR Corp said that it found that several reading lamp hoods had been removed from one of the carriages of the train.
