Cold weather warnings have been in effect for more than two days, with the Hong Kong Observatory predicting a slight rise in temperatures over the next few days.
At 7.30am on Sunday, the forecaster recorded a temperature of 11 degrees at its headquarters in Tsim Sha Tsui, while various other districts reported temperatures below 7 degrees. Tai Mo Shan had the coldest reading at just 2.7 degrees.
“It will be cold in the morning, very cold over inland areas, where the temperature difference between day and night will be rather large,” it said.
“With the winter monsoon being replaced by an easterly airstream early this week, it will be cloudier and temperatures will rise slightly over the coast of Guangdong.”
