Recently, Yakult Honsha, the parent company of the popular yogurt drink Yakult, announced the closure of its lactobacillus drink production facility in Shanghai, China. The Shanghai factory ceased production on the same day, and the local entity, Shanghai Yakult Dairy Co., Ltd., will also be dissolved. Operations from the Shanghai factory will be taken over by Yakult’s fully owned subsidiary, Yakult (China) Investment Co., Ltd. This marks the end of a company that has been operating for over 20 years.
