The US Election Day is here, and in just a matter of hours Americans will head to the polls to select a new president. The contest is neck and neck, and the two challengers could hardly be more different in their ideological orientation or on many policy fronts.

With divergent views on tariffs, global alliances and other matters of foreign policy, Vice-President Kamala Harris, the Democrat, and Republican former president Donald Trump will bring new challenges and opportunities to the world’s policymakers.

And outcomes in the US Congress – where Republicans are expected to regain control of the Senate and the House of Representatives appear too close to call – will decide how easily the next White House occupant will be able to enact their agenda.

The Post will live blog all the most important developments and results right here, including on-the-ground reports from Kent County, Michigan, a former Republican stronghold – and the location of Trump’s final rally, in the city of Grand Rapids – that looks to be in play this year. The state has been the site of a pitched battle over the presence of China-based Gotion High-Tech.

So check back on this page from at 2pm US Eastern time on November 5 (3am Hong Kong time on November 6) to get the latest developments brought straight to you.
