A source said the victim, 39, was robbed at about 1.49am on Saturday, when he was walking towards Mong Kok after he had dinner in Knutsford Terrace.

“When the victim reached the intersection between Nanking Street and Nathan Road, the arrested person suddenly appeared from behind the victim and attempted to forcefully take his wallet from his front right pocket,” the insider said.

He said the officer immediately gave chase, but the suspect attacked the victim with an item that was similar to a fruit knife.
