Lam Kai-chor, superintendent of police for the force’s organised crime and triad bureau, said the suspects all had a triad background and the force would continue to hunt for any others responsible for the case.
“The police strongly condemn the violent behaviour towards public service workers and the lawless actions of individual criminals,” Lam said.
“I want to state again that combating triads is one of the primary operation focuses of the police commissioner. The police will continue to take action to combat the triads and their related income streams.”
Three men attacked the 50-year-old Correctional Services Department assistant office as he left Pik Uk Prison in Sai Kung.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Lam said one of the suspects acted as a leader during the attack and the other seven were his associates.
The force is still investigating what their roles were during the incident, with officers also noting there was no evidence that the attack was related to the victim’s financial situation or personal life.
