The Face Behind The Mask

What a difference a few months, weeks or even days can make in the world of YouTube. This is no more evident that with the YouTuber Nguyễn Ngọc Như Quỳnh.  Her channel “Mẹ Nấm” boasts an impressive 45,000 subscribers.  But how much do they really know about Nguyễn Ngọc Như Quỳnh or as we will call here here – Quỳnh?  What she portrays on her channel is very different than what she does and says when she’s not streaming.

Quỳnh Attacks Anyone and Everyone

What many are beginning to realize is that Quỳnh is not an “activist”. She is probably closer to a fascist than an activist.  These types of actions are fascist in nature.  A fascist believes that violence is a viable form of compliance for the masses (IE: her followers).  The violence does not need to be physical. It can be mental, or through intimidation. If she can instill the fear that you better not cross here because she will reveal your personal secrets, conversations, or even the most intimate details of your life, then she will.  Everyone has seen this play out with Tammy and Tracy.  Tammy and Tracy were the very first supporters of the case for Tu.  In fact, the case was supposed to be about Tu and Daniel Tran.  Somewhere Quỳnh decided she would insert her name into the case.  However, Quỳnh’s actions on her live streams, as well as inserting herself into the case, caused Tammy and Tracy to step away. It was not for political reasons as Quỳnh has claimed.  Quỳnh can call people “stupid, broke, white trash, and non english speaking”, but if this is true, why would she accept money from all these stupid, broke people?  As we have learned, Quỳnh has no loyalties.  She will use people to get her way, just as she did with Tammy and Tracy.

Quỳnh's Lame Excuse of "Politics"

Quỳnh has told her followers that Patrick and Tracy stepped away from her because of their politics.  The fact is, that Patrick and Tracy know Quỳnh supports the democrats.  If politics had been an issue for Patrick and Tracy, they would have never donated money to the case or to Quỳnh directly.  Patrick and Tracy didn’t care about the politics.  They only thing they cared about was justice for Tu.  Patrick unfriended Quỳnh from facebook because he didn’t like her political messaging that was showing up on his facebook feed.  That didn’t mean he didn’t support Quỳnh and the case.  It meant he didn’t have to agree with her politically.  Of course it was a republican who was able to get Quỳnh to the U.S. so why she ended up supporting the democrats is kind of a head scratcher.

Drama fuels Clicks and Subscribers on YouTube

Quỳnh has no real message.  If she did she wouldn’t have to resort to name calling and bullying. From Inside Asia covers stories every day about human rights abuses in Vietnam, but not once has Quỳnh talked about any of these articles.  She is too busy belittling and bullying people who do not agree with her.  One of the great things about the U.S. is that you can have open dialog, conversations , and discourse about anything.  This is of course unless you subscribe to fascist ideals,  then your opinion is the only one that matters and anyone who disagrees with you will be squashed.  Quỳnh has to maintain this level of “drama” otherwise people would not watch her channel.  It’s what we call “Click Bait”.  You think you are going to be watching a live stream about human rights abuses only to find that the streamer is talking about other YouTubers and belittling them.  Then people jump over to the other YouTuber to see how they are going to react.  This goes back and forth, driving Quỳnh’s clicks and views and putting money in her pocket.

Quỳnh Has Nothing To Lose

The court date is set for February, but there could be motions, continuances, and delays.  Which of course will cost more money.  Don’t be surprised if Quỳnh starts asking for more money and donations.  If the money does not come in the case could die or worst, Quỳnh will be facing a counter suit, as it’s her name that is on the case.  Of course Quỳnh claims that it was the lawyers who said her name should be on the case.  But nobody held a gun to Quỳnh saying “Do It”.  Quỳnh made that decision herself and obviously agreed since her name appears on the case.  The bottom line is that regardless of how her name ended up on the case, the fact is, her name is on the case.

What Comes Around Goes Around

What is ironic, is that the case of Minh Tu and Quỳnh against Daniel Tran is about defamation.  But one only needs to go back less than a day to see how Quỳnh has defamed Tracy, Tammy, and now Chien.  Quỳnh has claimed that Chien has quit following her because Chien was paid off by Patrick and Tracy.  Yes that same Patrick and Tracy who Quỳnh claims are broke. What is truly heartbreaking about this story is that Chien considered Quỳnh his idol. But once Chien stepped away from Quỳnh, her attacks on him started immediately. Chien is just a kid.  Is Quỳnh setting the proper example as a public figure for these young adults? Do you want your sons and daughters to follow a person like Quỳnh? Once you see just how delusional and unhinged Quỳnh really is, then you will realize why people are unsubscribing from her channel.
