The incident took place at about 1.13am on bus No 26, which runs between Tsim Sha Tsui East and Shun Tin in Kwun Tong. The vehicle was travelling along the Kwun-Tong-bound side of Gascoigne Road.

As the bus approached the stop near the Labour Tribunal building on Gascoigne Road, the driver, 56, did not notice the passenger waving to flag down the vehicle and thus did not stop, according to KMB. The company noted that the bus was the last of the night on that route.

Police said that after failing to be picked up, the passenger ran after the bus, which continued for about 170m before stopping at a red light near the junction of Gascoigne Road and Jordan Road.

“The man caught up with the bus and demanded the driver open the door for him to get on,” a police spokesman said, adding that the driver had opened the door.

“After boarding, [the man] continued to hurl verbal abuse at the driver for failing to pick him up at the bus stop, then demanded to be let off the bus.”
