Police received a report on Saturday afternoon that a male paraglider landed on the lawn of a hill at Ngong Ping, Ma On Shan, hitting a female hiker.

The 51-year-old man injured his legs and neck, while the 27-year-old woman also hurt her head. A government helicopter was called in to transport them to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in Chai Wan.

The exact location of the accident is unclear, but the only designated site for paragliding in Ngong Ping is Pyramid Hill. The hill is located 396 metres above sea level and is said to be the highest and largest paragliding site in the city.

It is among the eight areas designated by the Civil Aviation Department for the activity.
