China’s TV Industry Collapses: 2000 Local Stations Close, Drastic Viewership Decline

In recent years, with the CCP tightening budgets and the impact of the internet, TV viewership in China has plummeted. Many stations across the country are struggling. On September 25th, Shanghai TV announced they will be shutting down four TV channels and four radio frequencies. This is just the beginning – they plan to cut 40% of traditional channels and frequencies. That’s a huge number, meaning thousands of people could lose their jobs.
