Former US president Donald Trump is safe after gunshots were reported in his vicinity on Sunday afternoon at his Florida golf club, his campaign and the Secret Service said.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said Trump was the subject of “an apparent assassination attempt”.
The US Secret Service said it was investigating and that the incident took place just before 2pm local time. “The former president is safe,” according to the Secret Service.
“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity,” the presidential nominee’s campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement.
Palm Beach police said a suspect had been arrested.
