September 10 marks Teachers’ Day in China, a holiday that comes amid rising concerns in the teaching profession. Despite the authorities’ efforts to promote it, a wave of education institutions abruptly closing has left many teachers feeling that their once secure “iron rice bowl” jobs are now at risk.
Recently, a parent in Shuozhou, Shanxi Province, discovered that Xingchen Bilingual School had been completely abandoned when they went to collect their child’s registration card.
