Military Surrounds Beijing Officers’ Compound; Complete Rift Between XI Jinping and ‘Princelings’

The Chinese Communist Party’s long-delayed Third Plenum of the 20th Central Committee was held on July 15. Experts pointed out that the meeting’s communiqué repeated old themes. CCP leader Xi Jinping is most concerned about political security and maintaining personal power. The economic part, which is most related to reforms, must also be firmly in his control.
Before the Third Plenum of the 20th Central Committee, videos circulated on the X platform showing the military surrounding the Xiangshan Military District Compound in Beijing. One video showed that on July 11, the compound at 78 Xiangshan South Road was suddenly sealed off by armed police, with all personnel and vehicles entering and exiting being registered and checked. The compound at that location houses senior officials’ families and is about 20 minutes from the Central Military Commission Joint Operations Command Center in Xishan.
