US President Donald Trump said on Friday that Stephen Miller would replace Susie Wiles as White House chief of staff, elevating a long-time loyalist and architect of his immigration crackdown days after Republicans lost control of Congress.
Miller, currently a deputy chief of staff, will take over on Monday. Wiles will move to Trump’s political operation, the president said in a post on Truth Social.
The change puts one of Trump’s staunchest ideological allies in charge of the White House staff as the president prepares to confront Democratic majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate for his remaining two years in office.
