U.S. President Donald Trump issued an executive order on Oct. 16 waiving sanctions, restrictions, and duties on Russia provided under a new law passed by Congress.

Under the legislation, all goods imported from the five largest importers of Russian crude oil or gas would have been subject to tariffs.

“I have submitted to the Congress a certification that the issuance of such a waiver at this time is in the national interests of the United States,” the president said in his order.

This is a developing story that will be updated.
