The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee has set an Aug. 4 executive business meeting to consider Todd Blanche’s nomination for attorney general, according to the committee’s website.
The committee had been scheduled to vote on Blanche’s nomination on July 29, but the vote was canceled after Sens. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) said they might withhold their votes, which are necessary for the nomination to advance.
President Donald Trump said on July 30 that he wouldn’t object to temporarily withdrawing Blanche’s nomination until the two Republicans leave Congress next year. The White House later released a statement saying the Senate should confirm his nomination “without delay.”…
