Cantopop star Sammi Cheng Sau-man’s highly anticipated concerts in Hong Kong this weekend have been postponed after the organiser said a stage glitch forced a delay to the event.
The three-day concert, scheduled for Friday to Sunday, is the final stop of Cheng’s Asia Tour. It will be watered down into free appreciation shows, with ticket holders given the option to seek refunds or retain their passes for future dates.
The concerts would have been her first at the 50,000-seat Kai Tak Stadium.

Media Asia Entertainment Limited, the organiser of the show, said on Monday that it had discovered a critical component failure during the testing process and stage set-up.
The firm decided to postpone the event due to safety reasons and to preserve the intended production effects of the concerts.
Scheduled for the same time and venue as the original concert, the 1½-hour free appreciation shows will feature Cheng meeting and performing for fans.
Cheng had posted on social media about her visit to Kai Tak Stadium three days ago. The footage revealed the venue was being prepared for the show.
