On May 29, Guangzhou and Shenzhen were hit by a violent storm with winds reaching level 12. Videos from the scene show a gray-white sky and rapidly dropping visibility as a massive gust swept through. Two large freezers outside a convenience store were almost instantly overturned by the wind. The strong airflow then slammed into the store’s glass doors, shattering the glass and sending fragments flying.
