This is a sad end to the Shanghai Maglev’s fate. On December 31, 2002, it became the world’s first commercial high-speed Maglev line, carrying the glory of ‘New Shanghai Speed.’ However, after over 20 years, it didn’t spread as expected. Instead, it’s been stuck in a deadlock due to continuous losses, aging tracks, and being ‘choked’ by technology issues.
