Instead, a cardboard cutout of him was presented. Large crowds of supporters and members of the Revolutionary Guard surrounded this “cardboard leader,” waving flags and chanting slogans. The scene was absurd to the extreme, quickly becoming a viral meme on the internet worldwide.
