A Hong Kong man jailed for allegedly poisoning a pastor’s daughter he was infatuated with was freed on Thursday after a judge overturned his conviction, ruling that his recorded confession had been coerced under threat.
The High Court found that Ye Wen-fei, 29, admitted to poisoning the woman with sodium nitrate in 2024 only after her father, a pastor at the NGO Agapeministry, intimidated him into admitting the alleged crime.
