Johnson Invites Trump to Deliver First State of the Union of Second Term on Feb. 24

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Wednesday formally invited President Donald Trump to deliver a State of the Union address to Congress.
“It is my distinct honor and great privilege to invite President Trump to deliver the State of the Union on February 24, 2026,” Johnson wrote in a post on X.
“Since his return to office, @POTUS has not stopped working for the American people and delivering on his promises,” Johnson added. “The best is yet to come.”
It will be the first formal State of the Union address of Trump’s second term.
In a letter attached to his post addressed to Trump, Johnson noted that this State of the Union address would come the same year as the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence….
