The deep-rooted crisis behind the 2020 border conflict between China and India resurfaced five years later.
According to a late December 2025 report by The Wall Street Journal, India is spending hundreds of millions of dollars to build roads, tunnels, and makeshift airstrips throughout the Himalayan Mountains to prepare for possible future conflict with its longtime rival, China. This 2,200-mile disputed border is highly vulnerable, and war could break out at any time. Indian military leaders stated that this build-up aims to establish sufficient deterrence to make any invader pay a higher price.
