A woman from southwestern China, who has been battling social anxiety, has gone viral after spending three years overcoming her fears by “crashing” around 100 wedding banquets of strangers to collect leftover food to feed over 120 stray cats.
The woman, known as Xuanxuan, hails from Baoshan, Yunnan province. Previously, she struggled with social anxiety while working part-time as a video editor.
In the winter of 2022, she began rescuing stray cats that she found shivering outside, and gradually, her home transformed into a shelter for more than 120 felines.

Xuanxuan highlighted that feeding just one small cat costs about 3 yuan (40 US cents) per day, which means her daily expenses can easily surpass 300 yuan.

The turning point occurred at a wedding she attended, where she observed that much of the untouched food was being discarded.
This experience inspired her to initiate a “Leftover Rescue Plan,” which involves collecting leftover food to nourish the hungry animals at her shelter.

Initially, approaching strangers was a challenge for her.
