China is threatening war with Japan—again. After Japan’s new prime minister suggested Tokyo wouldn’t sit on the sidelines if China attacks Taiwan, Beijing went into full meltdown mode. A Chinese consul-general even threatened to cut her head off, and state media started talking about nuclear strikes on Japan.
But behind all this bluster is a much bigger fear:
A tiny Japanese island called Yonaguni.
Sitting just 70 miles from Taiwan, Yonaguni is turning into a frontline fortress. Japan just deployed advanced Type 03 Chu-SAM missiles there—systems capable of tracking 100 targets and hitting a dozen simultaneously. The U.S. Marines are also quietly moving equipment in and out, setting up refueling points, and preparing the island for joint operations.
Why does this matter?
Because Yonaguni could cripple China’s plan to invade Taiwan.
