According to reports, at 2:20 PM, the flames started from the bamboo scaffolding and nylon protective netting outside the Wong Cheung Block of Hong Fuk Court. The strong winds caused the fire to spread quickly to nearby buildings, including the Hong Tai and Hong Sun Blocks. Within just 40 minutes, the fire escalated from level 3 to level 4, and by 6:22 PM, it reached the highest level—level 5.
