Social Security Commissioner Touts ‘Tremendous Progress’

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has made “tremendous progress” in the first year of President Donald Trump’s administration, according to a letter SSA Commissioner Frank Bisignano sent to Congress Nov. 21.
Despite a 43-day government shutdown that ended Nov. 12, the agency’s workers continued to deliver customer service and payments to more than 75 million Americans, Bisignano said.
“Through the uncertainty, SSA staff continued to deliver quality service to the American public in offices and on the phone,” Bisignano stated in the letter. “In the end, payments continued to be made, and beneficiaries received the assistance they needed to access and manage their benefits.”…
