Vice-Premier He Lifeng has emphasised the need to diversify China’s export markets and sustain trade growth, while urging local-level officials to empower enterprises and enhance policy support to strengthen manufacturing.

His remarks came during a three-day inspection tour that concluded on Thursday in the central provinces of Hubei and Hunan, where he learned about the operations of local trade logistics firms, export-oriented manufacturers and consumer-sector companies, according to Xinhua.
“In the face of a severe and complex external environment, China’s foreign trade has withstood pressure and maintained steady growth, providing strong support for the domestic economy,” he said.
He called for the support of cross-border e-commerce, overseas warehouse expansion, and continued market diversification to maintain stable trade growth.
The high-profile tour was made as China’s exports – a key driver of the world’s second-largest economy – have faced mounting pressure this year, particularly amid heightened trade tensions with the United States.

During his inspection, He urged authorities to “resolutely remove bottlenecks hindering the development of a unified national market” – reiterating a policy priority recently emphasised by President Xi Jinping as leadership aims to build a resilient domestic market to counter external uncertainties.
