Breaking! China Drone Invasion Over Yonaguni Island, Japan Scrambles Jets—War on the Brink

In November 2025, relations between China and Japan reached a new peak of tension. This followed comments by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who recently stated that Japan could intervene in the Taiwan Strait if “Taiwan is in danger.” In response, China ramped up its “wolf warrior” diplomacy. First, the Chinese consulate in Japan threatened to “decapitate” the Japanese Prime Minister, while China’s military conducted live-fire drills in the Yellow Sea. South Korean media reported that the two countries were now facing the worst diplomatic crisis since they established relations 53 years ago.
On November 17, 2025, Japan’s Ministry of Defense Self-Defense Forces posted on their official X account. They revealed that on November 15, a suspected Chinese unmanned aerial vehicle flew between Yonaguni Island and Taiwan. Japan’s Southwest Air Self-Defense Force quickly scrambled jets to respond. This was the first time the Japanese government publicly shared the details of such an event, leading to widespread media coverage in Japan.
