Driver of Hong Kong rehab bus dies after being hit and dragged by car

The driver of a rehabilitation bus has died after being hit by a car while he was operating the lifting platform at the back of his vehicle.

Police received a report at 8.21am on Tuesday regarding the accident, which took place near the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Cyril and Amy Cheung Aged Care Complex in Sha Tin.

According to the force, the driver in his 60s was operating the lifting platform at the rear of his rehabilitation bus parked on 8 Yuen Chau Kok Road when a blue BMW failed to stop in time and hit him.

The bus driver was dragged beneath the private car and sustained critical injuries. He fell unconscious and was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital for emergency treatment but was later pronounced dead.

The front of the BMW was severely damaged, and a large pool of blood was visible underneath the car.
