The four-day event, themed “Remix – Best of All Worlds”, features around 300 booths and is expected to attract 150,000 visitors throughout the festival.

“We invite you to explore a world of flavours designed to surprise and delight guests,” Peter Lam Kin-ngok, chairman of organiser Hong Kong Tourism Board, said at the opening ceremony.

He also described the government’s decision to scrap the wine and beer tax in 2008 as “visionary”, as the move “unfurled a world of possibility, transforming Hong Kong into the wine trade hub for Asia and the world”.

Chief Secretary Eric Chan Kwok-ki said: “We have all the ingredients for four fabulous days and nights of wine and dining under the sun and the stars.
