Senior Counsel Alan Hoo, who was a member of the national committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference from 2003 to 2023, on Tuesday stood trial at Eastern Court on charges of careless driving and failing to give information on demand.
The trial heard the 74-year-old lawyer’s Audi crossed a double white line when it overtook a private car and a taxi that made a temporary stop on a section of Robinson Road outside the Panorama Gardens residence in the evening of August 14, 2024.
Hoo allegedly failed to disclose the driver’s identity to police within the designated period after a report was made.
Dashcam footage showed Hoo’s car nearly hit an adult and two children after they alighted from the taxi and crossed the road.
