Man rescued after falling into Hong Kong sea from yacht during T3 warning signal

A man was rescued after falling into the sea from a yacht in Hong Kong on Saturday evening after allegedly becoming intoxicated during a party on board while a No 3 signal was in effect for Typhoon Matmo.

Police received a report that a man had fallen into the sea at 10.08pm on Saturday near the Sam Ka Tsuen pier in Lei Yue Mun.

The 45-year-old, surnamed Lau, was rescued by firefighters and rushed to United Christian Hospital in Kwun Tong for treatment. He was unconscious at the time.

According to the force, Lau had been attending a yacht party and had become drunk. While attempting to climb the yacht’s stairs, he fell overboard.
