The Taliban regime on Sept. 21 rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s call for the United States to regain control of Bagram Air Base, the main base for U.S. forces in Afghanistan before their 2021 withdrawal.
A statement posted on X by Taliban spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat emphasized that “Afghanistan’s independence and territorial integrity are of the utmost importance” and urged the United States to abide by the pledge that it made under the 2020 Doha Agreement.
“It should be recalled that, under the Doha Agreement, the United States pledged that ‘it will not use or threaten force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Afghanistan, nor interfere in its internal affairs.’ Therefore, it is necessary that they remain faithful to their commitments,” the Taliban stated….
