Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu also said on Tuesday that he chose to keep green as the theme colour, adding that it symbolised vitality and sustainability, and reflected the city’s continuing vibrancy for a “brighter future”.

“The theme of the policy address is deepening reforms for our people, leveraging our strengths for a brighter future,” Lee said before a meeting of the city’s top decision-making body, the Executive Council.

“The central purpose is to improve the economy and livelihood, as reflected in my previous policy addresses … The government will implement the blueprint’s philosophy.”

He said the policy address was drafted after officials attended more than 40 consultations and directly interacted with the community, adding that the government also received 10,100 submissions.

Lee appealed for the public’s support for his policy address, adding that he and his team would explain the short, medium and long-term policies to the public.

On Sunday, the city leader hinted at a highlight focusing on the wider application of artificial intelligence in the city by posting a video, partially created with AI. The video featured him wearing a specially designed tie intended for him and his team to wear on the day.
