Walt Disney’s first cruise ship that was to be based in Asia has pushed back its maiden voyage from Singapore by three months.

“As we work on the final touches to bring the Disney Adventure to our guests, we’ve encountered unexpected delays in the shipbuilding process,” Joe Schott, president of Disney Signature Experiences, said. The ship, once complete, will be the company’s largest ever.
The Disney Adventure was set to make its first voyage from the city state on December 15 but that has now been postponed until March 10, 2026. The vessel began sea trials last week to test its systems, although Disney said the delay was not related. The ship will be home-ported in Singapore for at least five years.
Disney declined to say how many guests were affected, but its booking schedule shows some 25 sailings will be impacted. The ship has the capacity to hold around 6,700 passengers. Unlike its other cruise ships, the Disney Adventure was acquired from Genting Hong Kong in 2022 and was partially built.
The US media and entertainment giant has announced ambitious plans to double spending on its cruise lines and parks to US$60 billion by 2033. Disney currently has a fleet of six ships and aims to have 13 by 2031.

The Disney Adventure was designed as a floating theme park, appealing to guests in Southeast Asia and India. It will feature a 250-metre Iron Man-themed roller coaster on the upper deck, a first for a Disney cruise and billed as the largest roller coaster at sea.
