A China-based foreign teacher has apologised for wearing a scary, horror-style mask while sitting in a car on a highway.

The apology came after a video of him at the window of a car with the mask on, looking towards a passing vehicle, caused a stir on mainland social media.
In the short clip, he rolls down the car window and gazes outside while on an expressway near Hangzhou in the eastern province of Zhejiang.
His actions on August 24 were filmed by a passenger in a car in a nearby lane going in the same direction, the City Express reported.
“We do not know him. He rolled down the window and looked at us. I think he did it intentionally,” said the person who shot the clip.
“I was sitting in the back seat of the car. A girl passenger in our car was taken aback. It made us feel nauseous,” the unidentified person said.

The video prompted a traffic police investigation.
