Feng, who was promoted to distinguished professor at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) earlier this year, has joined the Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (SZBL), where he will serve as director of the Cancer Research Institute.
SZBL is a research platform established by Guangdong province and the southern city of Shenzhen to build leading science and technology innovation centres.
Feng’s research focuses on the mechanisms of liver cancer recurrence and immunotherapy for liver cancer. His most important contribution to the field is the discovery of SHP2, a new kind of enzyme.
This type of enzyme can affect the stability of proteins and regulate the activity of other enzymes, which helps us understand the regeneration and differentiation mechanisms of various cells.
