Suzhou, in Jiangsu Province, is known as “China’s manufacturing capital” and “the ceiling for prefecture-level cities.” At one point, its foreign trade exports ranked second only to Shenzhen, and its GDP was approaching that of Guangzhou, placing it in the top four nationwide. The city once attracted many foreign-invested, high-end manufacturing companies.
