China’s Broke, World’s Highest Highway Unfinished, High-Speed Rail Projects Abandoned Nationwide

The Tongche River Super Bridge, a critical part of the Zhenqi Expressway, was a joint project between the governments of Yunnan and Guizhou. Located in Zhenxiong County, Yunnan Province, the bridge was planned to stretch 1,458 meters, supported by 22 piers. The average height of the bridge deck was expected to be about 70 meters, with the tallest pier reaching 222 meters, making it the tallest bridge pier under construction in Asia.
