Pentagon Will Send 200 Marines to Florida to Support ICE

The U.S. military said on July 3 that it would send 200 Marines to the Sunshine State to offer administrative and logistical support for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The soldiers will be the first wave sent from U.S. Northern Command to assist ICE, according to the military.
“Service members participating in this mission will perform strictly non-law enforcement duties within ICE facilities,” U.S. Northern Command said in a statement.
Marines will also be sent to Louisiana and Texas, where service members will perform “strictly non-law enforcement duties within ICE facilities,” U.S. Northern Command added.
“Their roles will focus on administrative and logistical tasks, and they are specifically prohibited from direct contact with individuals in ICE custody or involvement in any aspect of the custody chain.”…
