A man in southwestern China has been filmed with a giant fish tied to the back of his car as a trophy, much to the delight of mainland internet users.

However, traffic police in Guigang, a city in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, said they would punish him for his “bad behaviour”, the news website cqcb.com reported.
According to a viral video clip, the driver, whose identity was not released in the report, bound the head and tail of the fish to the back of his car before driving around the city on May 15.
“The fish was around one metre long and estimated to be more than 30kg in weight,” a man, surnamed Ji, who witnessed the incident, was quoted as saying.

“He probably caught it in the nearby Pingtianshan Reservoir,” added Ji.

The fishing enthusiast later said on social media that his catch weighed in at 39.5kg. He and his family ate it on the same day, by making most of its flesh into fish balls, his friend told the media.
