On May 15, the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs issued a statement on X platform. It declares that the US will strongly oppose the Inter-American Development Bank, or IDB, and other international financial institutions from providing funding for current and upcoming projects operated by Chinese state-owned and controlled enterprises in Colombia. This also applies to other countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.
