The court summons for Kwong Kau came to light in the media on Wednesday, the latest development in the controversy over his ownership of the flat, which has already caused authorities to tighten some public housing rules.

The bank has told Kwong to pay all money owed in relation to the mortgage of his Sheung Man Court home in Kwai Chung, according to the document, which was obtained by the Post.

The summons, which was filed earlier this year, did not mention the amount due but said the subsidised flat was mortgaged for about HK$2.1 million (US$269,400) plus interest when he signed a legal charge with the bank in July 2020.

The document called for the “delivery by the defendant to the plaintiff of possession of the mortgaged property” in regards to payment defaults.
