Wang Jin, 23, went viral on mainland social media, amassing half a million followers in just one month and attracting 1.1 million followers on a short video platform.
Wang has only posted 17 videos, which mostly feature the same content of him drinking bottled water and eating steamed buns in the desert.
In the videos, he devours food, his skin is rough and his hair seems to carry sand that could never be washed away.
The online community has been captivated by his hardcore style, and fallen for him especially after finding out that his job is that of a desertification control worker.

A migrant worker from Liangshan county, one of China’s most impoverished regions in the country’s southwestern Sichuan province, Wang and his parents now work in the arid northern Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
