Travellers in Thailand will now need ‘arrival card’ as Netflix’s White Lotus boosts tourism

Starting May 1, foreign tourists entering Thailand will be required to submit their arrival details online, regardless of whether they arrive by air, sea or land.

This marks the reactivation of the TM6 arrival form, which was initially abolished in 2022. However, the process has now been modernised, with the form replaced by the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), which must be completed online before arrival.

The reintroduction of the TDAC aims to streamline immigration processes and reduce waiting times. Additionally, the digital data will facilitate faster coordination with consulates and the Disease Control Department.

The form will collect personal information, details about the length of stay, and accommodation arrangements.

This change reflects Thailand’s efforts to modernise its entry procedures and improve efficiency for both tourists and authorities.

The new arrival card comes as Thailand braces for a surge in visitors this year after millions worldwide watched the third season of hit HBO series The White Lotus showcasing a Thai luxury resort.
